World Cup 2023: Team USA to meet Slovenia in Spain

Luka Dončić and Slovenia are preparing for the FIBA World Cup 2023 by playing Team USA, Montenegro, Greece, Spain, and Japan.

Team USA, a top contender, will play Slovenia Saturday. Slovenia, aiming for medals but battling at the wing and center positions following many injuries, will face the FIBA power rating leader, USA.

Jalen Brunson, Team USA head coach Steve Kerr's natural leader, and Luka Dončić will be reunited for Maverick fans. The two friends love friendly trash talking and intense competition.

USA is the apparent favorite in this encounter with NBA stars Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Brandon Ingram (New Orleans Pelicans), and Jalen Brunson (ex-Maverick, current New York Knick).

The club has no NBA superstars, but it has good players that may play well together. This game will show if that will happen.

After traveling East, Japan will be the final challenge. Slovenia plays Cape Verde, Georgia, and Venezuela in Group F in Okinawa, Japan, on August 25.

Slovenia will face the top two teams from Group E—Germany, Finland, Australia, and one of the hosts, Japan—in the Second Round.
