The $1 billion Powerball jackpot winners were drawn.

Wednesday's $1 billion Powerball jackpot, the game's third largest, was won.

Powerball says the top prize winner can choose between an annuitized payout worth $1 billion or a lump sum payment of $516.8 million before taxes.

Wednesday's payout is the seventh greatest US lottery jackpot and the third largest Powerball jackpot, behind last year's $2.04 billion California jackpot and 2016's $1.586 billion jackpot.

The Powerball jackpot rolled Monday night after no ticket matched all numbers. Since Powerball's April 19 drawing, when an Ohio ticket matched all six numbers to win $252.6 million, 38 draws had passed without a jackpot winner.

Wednesday night's billion-dollar Powerball drawing and a soaring Mega Millions jackpot might make some lucky winners rich even if they don't win.

Five $1 million Powerball tickets from Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, New York, and Pennsylvania matched all five white balls on Monday.

No one won Tuesday night's huge Millions jackpot with 19, 22, 31, 37, 54 and a huge ball of 18.

The Friday Mega Millions jackpot is projected at $720 million, with a cash value of $369.6 million.
