According to his agent, Ian Greengross, free agent running back Damien Williams, previously of the Kansas City Chiefs, will sign with the Las Vegas Raiders on August 11.
Williams enters the NFL undrafted out of Oklahoma in 2014. The Miami Dolphins were his first team in the league, signing him in May 2014.
Williams' special teams efforts, combined with relatively limited offensive play, kept him in Miami for four seasons before joining the Chiefs in 2018
Williams spent two seasons in Kansas City and is best recognized in Chiefs Nation for his performance in the 2019 postseason.
Williams had 46 rushing attempts for 196 yards and 6 total touchdowns (4 rushing, 2 receiving) in three games during that postseason run.
Williams rushed 17 times for 104 yards and scored three touchdowns (2 receiving, one rushing) in the Super Bowl LIV triumph over the San Francisco 49ers.
Williams opted out of the 2020 season just a few months after the team's championship run due to family and COVID-19 issues.
Kansas City dismissed Williams in March of the following year, which apparently "stunned" him at the time, according to The Athletic's Nate Taylor.
